Apps that connect to everything they need, and keep nothing they don't.
Atrium Labs is a small independent studio in Australia. Everything here started as something we wanted to exist and could not buy: a personal dashboard, and the Shopify apps behind it. Some of what we make has to plug into half a dozen services before it is worth installing. Some of it is built so that not even we can look inside. The job decides which.
What we build
One app in beta and a list behind it: personal software, Shopify apps, and the integrations that hold them together. We only build things we would use ourselves, which is why the list is short. Each one gets its own page here as it becomes real, so you can always see what is shipping and what is still being built.
How we work
We build two quite different kinds of software, and we build all of it for ourselves first, so it is worth being clear about what stays the same across them.
The job sets the constraint
Pillars holds someone's whole life, so it is built so that we cannot see any of it. A Shopify app has to reach your store, your shipping and your books before it is worth installing. Those are different problems, and pretending otherwise produces software that is bad at one of them.
We hold as little as the work allows
That is the line we actually hold to, rather than a blanket promise the next product would break. For a personal dashboard it means nothing leaves your device. For an app that connects your systems it means the access it genuinely needs, and not one field more, for no longer than the job takes.
Integrations that survive contact with reality
Most integrations work right up until a token expires, a sync half-finishes, or a field the documentation never mentioned comes back empty. That is the part we build for, because we are the ones who would otherwise be handling it at 11pm.
Small, finished software
We would rather ship one app that does its job completely than five that do most of it. Features earn their place or get cut before you ever see them, and your data exports in a format you can actually use whenever you want.
Say hello
We are not an agency and we do not take on client work. We build our own apps, at our own pace. But if you have found a bug, want early access to something, or want to tell us what is missing from one of these, the inbox is real and we read it.
